Terokan working to eradicate violence on a mass level

Terokan born Dwayne Martin hails from Spanish Town Jamaica W.I, at age nine music peaked his interest, he started paying close attention to artist like Professor Nuts and Major Mackerel, as time progressed a few other artistes surfaced and gave him another creative aspect of reggae and dancehall music “Spragga Benz and Bounty Killa ah my artiste.” says Terokan, hence focusing his attention on how they flow musically, likewise their style and the way they captivated the attention of the audience while on stage. Terokan grew up listening to an array of older reggae music, as some may refer to as “old dubs, ole skool” some of his favorites then and still remains the same are Tenor Saw, Yami Bolo, Major Mackerel and Papa San… just to list a few. Terokan decided to pursue his music career when he was told by several of his family and close friends that his musical talent should be explored further. He started off in a group called Platinum Crew they group perform locally in Jamaica, however the group’s time together was cut short when Terokan migrated to Canada. After migrating to Canada he continued on his musical journey. Over the years Terokan has performed at many small venues where he showed how he transforms into his musical self, he has performed at venues across the GTA (Sin on 7, Windies Restaurant and Sports Bar, The Entertainment Kitchen, Smiling Buddha, The Newfoundlander bar, the Buss show). In 2016 and 2018 he made a great addition to two compilation released, Cut & Clear Music Productions, a label that’s in their early stages but making a strong impact. The compilation features artists from Africa, Jamaica, Canada. Terokan song titled “basket” mentions some old saying by his grandma, some can relate as they are saying that they have heard before, brings one back to childhood days. “Miss Look Good” was released November 2018 on the Lyrically International Compilation, a more up beat song focusing on women, letting them know that they look good. Terokan’s versatility in his delivery and his writing shows that no topic is difficult to challenge. If the opportunity arises terokan would embrace the idea of working with Spragga Benz, Vybz Kartel Bounty Killa and Damian Marley, just to name a few. A topic that Terokan speaks passionately about is the issue of violence in communities and countries on a whole, working together to eradicate violence on a mass level is what he believes should be the main focus on the level of our leaders worldwide on a political scale, coming together and providing aid to less fortunate communities allowing them the privilege of being equal. Terokan is not just talented, his approach to music is intellectual. Terokan is telling the youths and to the world “if you have a dream and you feel you have that potential go for it don’t let anything or anyone stop you” https://www.facebook.com/terokanthedj/ Instagram – terokanudj Reverbnation – http://www.reverbnation.com/terokan/songs
