TeePolo Ready To Wreck Shop At CanJam2019

Kenya Grant, popularly known as TeePolo, was born and raised in Manchester, Jamaica. TeePolo started out singing at her church in Cobbla, Manchester and would later be promoted as the lead singer of the choir called “The Kingdom Kids”. TeePolo entered several school talent competitions and started out with the name “Rhymy Spice”. The recording artiste recorded her first single “Bun Out Iniquity” at the “Diamond Cut Recording Studio” in Mandeville, Manchester at the age of 15 which was later placed on the popular Myspace platform. TeePolo performed the single at many stage shows and talent competitions. Having that being the only single she recorded, writing did not stop for her. The artiste recorded her single “Fake Friends” in 2008 and then went on a self-imposed hiatus. Fast-forward to 2019 and is back with a new stage name and is more conscious with her messages. In December 2018, she wrote and recorded her first official single “You Got To Go” which gained social media’s attention. In just a few weeks after releasing the single, it caught the attention of Anna Olin Diaz, who informed TeePolo of an upcoming radio competition called “Burst Hour” and was told to submit her track for a chance to win one month of air play. The competition was also the first one by “Subtropical Radio Oskarshamn”. The recording artiste among hundreds of other talented artistes around the world submitted their tracks and her single “You Got To Go” won first place. In February 2019, TeePolo released her second single, “Overcome”, produced by DCQ BEATS. A 0.25 seconds teaser was placed on her social media platforms that went viral before the single was officially released. The single, after being released had then started trending on Audiomack’s Reggae and Dancehall charts and was later placed on heavy rotation on Toronto’s first Caribbean radio station, “G98.7”. Being exposed to the issues faced in society today plays a big part in the kind of messages she delivers through her music. TeePolo now wishes to spread her music and messages to all parts of the world.
