CanJam Festivals’ ultimate goal is to build a platform that shines the spotlight on Canadian-Jamaican artists as well as the heritage and community that is their foundation.
CanJam 2019 marks the festival’s 3rd record breaking year and founder Michael Dockery has pulled together a treasure trove of goodies for this year’s performers. Drawing on his industry relationships from TDot to Texas, this year’s CanJam performers will receive more than $50,000.00 in prizes from local and international sponsors.
“This has been a dream of mine for a long time — being able to give back to my community in a big way”, says Dockery. Riding on the wave of the festival’s recent MARTYS Awards nomination, Dockey — known to most as Bigga Boss — has partnered with Ottawa’s “Big Daddy” of CanJam Muzik. But neither of the two Kings of CanJam are sharing anything about what’s in store for CanJam as of this writting. However, if their slogan — “Strength In Unity” is any indication then one can safely assume that something huge is in the works.
